Languages
The cart speaks the language your shopper is browsing your store in. If your store is in
English and German, a shopper on the German version of your store (for example
your-store.com/de) sees the cart in German.
Which languages
Section titled “Which languages”The editor uses the languages you’ve published in Shopify, under Settings › Languages. Your store’s default language is the cart’s primary language. Add a language in Shopify and it appears in the editor the next time you open a cart.
If NativeSlide asks you to reconnect the app, do so: until then the editor can’t see your store’s languages and lists the template’s instead.
The template’s texts come ready in its languages. Minimalist is in English, Danish, Dutch, French, German, Italian, Japanese, Polish, Portuguese (Brazil and Portugal), Spanish and Swedish. Carts created from Minimalist before version 2.4.0 are in English only.
A text with nothing in the shopper’s language shows in your primary language, or English if there’s nothing there either.
Choosing the language to edit
Section titled “Choosing the language to edit”Pick a language in the language menu at the top of the editor, or at the top of the Translations tab. The preview switches to that language, and the texts you type from then on are for that language. Pick your primary language to go back to editing the cart itself.
The Translations tab
Section titled “The Translations tab”The Translations tab lists every text of the cart, grouped as in the cart: General, Cart items, Discounts, Checkout and so on. Cart messages are the ones the cart shows itself, such as “Discount applied.” after a code is accepted.
Each field shows the text the cart uses now in grey. Type over it to use your own wording in the language you’re editing; clear the field to go back to the template’s. A yellow badge such as 3 missing on a group means those texts have nothing in this language yet, so shoppers see them in your primary language.
Texts that change with a number, such as “1 item” and “4 items”, have one field per form the
language uses: One and Other in English, One, Few, Many and Other in
Polish. Keep {count} and the other names in curly braces: the cart fills them in.
Search texts finds a text by its wording or its name.
Your own texts
Section titled “Your own texts”Under Your texts, add texts of your own, such as a sale name you use in several places.
Give it a name (letters, numbers, - and _), choose Add, then write it in each
language.
To use one, type {{ custom.name }} in an announcement message or another block text, or pick
it from the {} button next to the field. The cart puts in the text in the shopper’s
language. The trash icon deletes a text in every language.
Translating block texts
Section titled “Translating block texts”Text you write in a block, such as an announcement message, is in your primary language. With another language picked, the field shows that language’s name and your primary text in grey: type the translation there. Leave it empty and shoppers in that language see your primary text.
Unused texts
Section titled “Unused texts”If you remove a block you’d translated, its translations show under Unused texts. They have no effect; Remove unused texts clears them.
Texts are saved with the rest of the cart when you choose Save, and reach your store like any other change: right away for your live cart, or when you publish a draft.
